Construction and demolition debris is defined as the waste from the construction, modification or demolition of human-made structures. It includes the basic structure plus fixtures, but does not include contents, like rugs or furniture, or general garbage. By sorting out the C&DD waste from the solid waste, it may be disposed in these landfills at a less expensive rate. Unsorted material MUST go to a solid waste landfill. These facilities do not have the protective systems that solid waste landfills have, and cannot take solid or liquid waste, hazardous waste or radioactive waste.
