Organization of Solid Waste Districts of Ohio

These offices provide adult and youth education, public awareness, litter collection on public property, and organize recycling collection events for materials such as tires and appliances.

Each department houses a solid waste sanitarian who inspects landfills, transfer stations, recyclers, infectious waste generators and compost facilities. They also investigate complaints of open dumping on private property.

Litter law enforcement deputies investigate and prosecute cases of open dumping, monitor vehicles for unsecured loads, and prosecute those found littering.

This state office regulates solid waste districts and enforces state law concerning solid waste. They are responsible for reviewing permit applications for solid waste facilities and c&dd landfills.

Ohio's state trade association on recycling. Members from the private and public sectors join to provide a unified voice to promote recycling throughout Ohio. AOR is the creator of the Ohio Materials Exchange, an internet-based program to increase recycling.

Ohio's statewide professional organization comprised of representatives from each solid waste district.
